The first strategic move consisted of the company forming a joint venture in 1975 with Fuel Engineering of New York which was owned by Greg Gould. Greg and Gladys knew each other from participation in ASTM activities. There was a great deal of mutual respect and each provided coal testing services in different geographic markets.
